Back in 2000 while working for Alchemy Interactive I built my first commercial website for Jura Whiskey. This was innately developed in HTML but the client wanted multimedia elements and so I developed it in Flash with a javascript sniffer.
Following this an all Flash site for Aftershock was built, this was developed with a main player loading additional content files to make it easy to maintain.
But with the rise in importance of search engine positioning a full Flash site became difficult to rank. Building dual HTML and Flash sites enabled good positioning but doubled the workload. So I started to develop media rich Flash elements. This allows Flash to act as a smart image, while still allowing the HTML on the site to be easily spidered to gain a good search engine ranking.
